Environmental Policy
JarvisHayes Ltd are committed to providing a high quality design service that minimises our potential impact on the environment. We seek to utilise local suppliers and companies with a like-minded environmental attitude and in-turn, communicate our environmental commitment to our clients and encourage them to support it.
Environmental issues are key to Jarvishayes as the incorporation of the business highlights our environmental awareness. The business operates from home offices throughout the UK so we therefore have no unnecessary overheads or large design studios to travel to, heat, supply light, water etc.
We encourage the use of vegetable printing inks and use recycled paper and paper from sustainable forests (FSC).
By working from home, JarvisHayes members are not only commited to the prevention of pollution on the environment by reducing fuel emissions in not having to travel to a separate place of work, but when it is necessary we minimise travel use by car sharing or using public transport. Both senior partners only possess one vehicle per family.
Our main environmental impacts arise from paper use, electricity (within our own homes), printing equipment and inks.
Working Environment
Due to the nature of our business, it is each individuals’ responsibility to commit to reducing energy usage in their home office environments, on the whole, reducing the environmental impact as well as saving money!
To do this we:
Switch off lights when exiting an empty room.
Only use artificial lights when natural lighting is inefficient.
Turn off heating when it is not needed.
Turn off all equipment when not in use.
JarvisHayes continually strive to operate a paper free environment and reduce any minor volume of printed articles by:
Only print emails when it is necessary.
Supply invoices and purchase orders electronically.
Proof on screen only.
Only print designs/visuals off if required for presentations.
Reuse paper when possible
Recycling
As all JarvisHayes staff work from home, all members actively recycle or aim to re-use the materials used whether it be on a personal or professional basis;
Paper/newspaper/magazines
Cardboard
Glass
Plastics (types 1,2 and 3)
Continuous Improvement
JarvisHayes continually seek out and investigate more efficient methods of performing our services. When more environmentally sound methods are identified, we will move promptly to adopt these practices and will update and train all employees on these changes in order to develop their ability and motivation to implement our practices. We also encourage all employees to generate new ideas in order to achieve continuous improvement.
